ECMI modelling week Milan Italy 29.8-12.9.2010

Friday, 23.04.2010 - 8:10

The European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry (ECMI) invites mathematics master’s students to its Summer School and Modelling Week. This is a set of intensive courses on applications-oriented mathematical methods, followed by a workshop where you propose innovative solutions to a real-world problem as part of a multinational student team with a tutor, see

TUT math dept plans to send 1-2 students to this event. Priority is given to mathematics or statistics students at TUT or UTa with good grades who are writing or have recently completed their master’s thesis. Completion of the Introduction to Mathematical Modelling course is an advantage but is not necessary.

TUT/math pays the registration fee (300€), ECMI provides accomodation, and the student pays travel and meals. (Ryanair flies to Milan!) TUT students earn 4 credits for successful participation in Modelling Week, and 1 credit for each intensive course. It is also possible to attend only the Modelling Week.

Interested students should contact prof. Robert Piché
